New Jersey BodyTite™ Liposuction
New Jersey liposuction and body contouring patients who would like to have a minimally invasive, but very effective approach often choose BodyTite™ liposuction. BodyTite is a revolutionary new technology designed to increase the plastic surgeon's ability to carry out body contouring with a minimum of incisions and invasive surgery. This allows better, firmer skin contraction after liposuction and body contouring and in many cases eliminates the need for incisional surgery.
Dr. Richard D'Amico is one of the few plastic surgeons in the U.S. selected to participate in FDA clinical trials of BodyTite. This sophisticated device which is undergoing FDA evaluation uses patented Radiofrequency Assisted LipoTightening (RFAL™) technology to accomplish effective body contouring through a combination of liposuction, fat removal and skin shrinkage or contraction. The technology is not yet FDA approved. It has been approved by the Canadian FDA equivalent and is carried out under careful clinical protocols.
The addition of the BodyTite technology to Dr. D'Amico's liposuction approach offers several advantages:
- Superior body contouring and skin tightening
- Potentially smoother skin surface due to better skin contraction
- Decreasing blood loss and fluid shifts
- More efficient energy delivery so less anesthesia required
Because BodyTite can be used on almost any area of the body, large or small, it can also be used as a companion procedure with male breast reduction and tummy tuck in New Jersey.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
Minimal invasive BodyTite liposuction is an option for men and women who have realistic expectations, are in good health, and have tried unsuccessfully to lose localized fatty deposits through traditional diet and exercise. Because the device is not yet FDA approved, it continues to be used in an FDA clinical trial. Common treatment areas include the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, arms and knees. It is particularly helpful for patients whose skin tone is less than ideal.
How It's Done
BodyTite liposuction surgery can be performed under local anesthesia, local with sedation, or general anesthesia, depending on the quantity of fat to be removed and the number of areas to be treated. The incisions are tiny. During the procedure, the small access incisions are created to enable the treatment wand to deliver the radio frequency energy at the same time that it is carrying out liposuction. This targeted, highly efficient and controlled energy gently melts the fatty tissue, which is then removed using a power assisted liposuction arm. The precisely controlled heat is designed to stimulate the skin and cause shrinkage of collagen, not only in the skin, but also in the matrix of connective tissue, which surrounds and invests the fatty layer like netting or a honeycomb. The BodyTite radio frequency is capable of delivering energy to all layers of fat, no matter how thick or how superficial and, therefore, the possibility for tightening is much greater because, not only can the skin be treated, but the entire connective tissue matrix which envelops the fatty layer. While the honey is removed, the entire honeycomb can shrink.
BodyTite Liposuction Recovery
Immediately following the BodyTite procedure, Dr. D'Amico will explain how to care for the small incisions and ensure proper healing and how to wear the post operative garment. There may be swelling, numbness and bruising, which should all diminish in a short period of time. Patients can usually return to work within several days, but vigorous physical activity should be avoided for a week or so. Most people are back in the gym within one to two weeks.
To ensure safe recovery and good results, patients should schedule a follow up visit with Dr. D'Amico within the first week after treatment. Treated areas will be improved immediately, but final results may take several weeks to become apparent.
