Breast Reduction in New Jersey
A common plastic surgery procedure, breast reduction helps New Jersey and New York metro area women who want to bring their breasts more in proportion with the rest of their body. Dr. Richard D'Amico often performs this procedure to relieve back and shoulder pain as well.
Good Candidates
If you are generally healthy but find that the weight of your breasts causes shoulder or neck pain, or if your bra straps dig into your shoulders, or you feel that your breasts are too large for your body size, a New Jersey breast reduction procedure might be right for you. When you meet with Dr. D'Amico at your consultation, he will help you create a clear picture of your desired result.
How It's Done
Breast reduction surgery is performed under general anesthesia in Dr. D'Amico's AAAASF accredited on-site surgical facility or at the hospital. Each woman is unique but, on average, the procedure takes 2-3 hours and is done on an outpatient basis. Dr. D'Amico will make an incision around the areola and down to the fold, under the breast, often called a lollipop incision or inverted "T". Excess breast tissue is carefully removed to create an even, natural appearance. The nipple and areola will be repositioned on the breast and excess skin is removed. The breasts are lifted to a more youthful, "perkier" position.
In certain cases, liposuction alone can be used to reduce the size of the breasts. This procedure requires fewer incisions and results in less scarring. Talk with Dr. D'Amico to find out if you are a candidate for breast reduction through liposuction.
You will need a friend or family member to drive you home from the surgery center, as you will still be recovering from anesthesia. Many women choose to combine their breast reduction procedure with other cosmetic enhancements to improve their overall appearance, including breast lift, abdominoplasty and liposuction in New Jersey.
Recovery
Most women who choose a breast reduction in New Jersey from Dr. D'Amico feel much more like themselves about 5-7 days after the procedure. Some patients experience a lack of sensation in the nipple area following this procedure, though it's generally temporary and disappears as the area heals. The scars from this procedure are visible but fade with time.
Breast reduction surgery has had a huge, positive effect on the lives of our patients who have suffered, some of them for years, with oversize breasts that have made their lives so uncomfortable. You may find that you have a renewed interest in clothes shopping, too!
Postoperative Pain
There is very little post-operative pain after breast reduction.
