You’re already probably a little familiar with BOTOX® Cosmetic. The popular cosmetic treatment has been around for decades. But how much do you actually know? Keep reading for a closer look at BOTOX® Cosmetic and what it has to offer.
What can BOTOX® Cosmetic do?
BOTOX® Cosmetic’s primary use is to eliminate or reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. In some cases it is also used to treat other medical issues such as excessive sweating.
How does it work?
Repeated muscle movements like smiling and frowning cause many of the wrinkles on your face. BOTOX® Cosmetic addresses these lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles in specific areas. This results in smoother, younger looking skin. You may also look more relaxed, happier, and less tire. Botox injections can treat lines around the eyes, on the forehead, near the mouth, between the eyebrows, and more.
What is the procedure like?

One reason Botox is so popular is that the treatment is quick and simple. A very small needle will be used to inject the solution. The procedure takes about 15-30 minutes and most patients only experience mild discomfort. Patients who are concerned about pain may have a cream anesthetic applied before the injection.
In most cases results are apparent after about 48 hours and can last for about 6 months.
When is it right for you?
Botox can be a great solution, but it isn’t the only option. If you want to restore volume to your cheeks or get plumper lips, you may want to consider combining Botox treatments with injectable fillers. If you’re comfortable with surgery and want long lasting, more noticeable results, a facelift may be a good alternative to Botox.
If the following statements apply to you, Botox may be your best option:
• You’re looking for a quick and simple solution to lines and wrinkles on your face.
• You’d like to address crow’s feet, forehead lines, and furrows between the brows.
• You aren’t ready for a more intensive procedure.
• You think that lines on your face are making you look tired, stressed, or old.
• You don’t mind going in for occasional touch ups and treatments to maintain your appearance.
