JUVÉDERM® XC

Aging affects the body in innumerable ways. Lines and wrinkles are just one of the signs of facial aging. The deflation of contours is another, and it is one that can be deeply troubling due to the change it can cause in the shape of the face. Fortunately, there are options for facial contouring that do not involve surgery. If that is your preference, explore the many benefits of Juvéderm Voluma XC.

We are proud to offer many of the Juvéderm products in our Englewood, NJ office. To schedule your consultation today, call (201) 567-9595!

What Is JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC?

One of the several outstanding products in the Juvéderm line, Voluma XC is designed specifically for structural enhancement. Made with a thicker, denser consistency, Juvéderm Voluma XC is carefully injected to gently lift the skin and replace the volume that has been lost to the aging process. Like all Juvéderm products, this one is made of hyaluronic acid particles. These are cross-linked in a particular way to give Voluma XC a more robust structure that is ideal for areas of greater contour. The XC in the name indicates that this product contains a small amount of lidocaine. Mixed in with the hyaluronic acid, the lidocaine quickly starts to desensitize the treatment area for improved comfort. While the filler was initially designed to restore mid-face volume through injections across the cheekbones, Juvéderm Voluma XC is also used off-label, like many injectables. In this instance, a doctor may inject the filler along the jawline to rebuild stronger angles between the lower face and the neck.

How Long Do The Results Of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC Last?

While individual results can vary, Juvéderm Voluma XC generally lasts up to two years. Your doctor can discuss the ideal treatment schedule for you based on your needs.

How Can I Reduce My Risks Of Bleeding Or Bruising From JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC?

Dr. D’Amico & Dr. Ferrauiola use very small needles to inject dermal fillers like Juvéderm Voluma XC. The risk of bleeding is very low. At the most, you may experience pinpoint spots of blood for a short time after your treatment. Bruising, on the other hand, may occur and last for a few days. Understandably, you don’t want to exhibit bruises on your cheeks if you can help it! To mitigate the risk of bruising after injectable treatment, plan accordingly. Starting several days before your appointment, avoid the use of all types of blood-thinning agents. Aspirin is a known blood-thinner, but so are ibuprofen and Gingo Biloba. So is alcohol. If you take prescription blood-thinning medication, it may be possible to temporarily discontinue its use. This should not be done without first talking to the prescribing doctor.

What Are The Injection-Related Side Effects?

Dermal filler treatment is conservative and carries very little risk of serious side effects. For a short time after your injections, you may experience tenderness and minor swelling. Some redness may also occur. Bruising is less common but may develop even if you take measures against it. The treatment area may feel firm for a day or two. You may notice the appearance of lumps or bumps, as well. Like other side effects, these are expected to resolve in a matter of a few days without any intervention.

What Can I Expect During A JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC® Treatment?

Your Juvéderm Voluma XC treatment at our comfortable office in Englewood should take thirty minutes or less. When you meet with your doctor, you can discuss your general beauty concerns. If Juvéderm Voluma XC is the right choice and you are a good candidate, you can receive treatment immediately. The doctor performs injections using gentle, precise techniques that build volume and shape in just the right places to restore better facial symmetry. Because the product contains lidocaine, there is no need to also apply a numbing medication to the skin. As your treatment is done, you can observe the results in real-time and, when we are done, you can go right back to most of your normal activities.
