What is Laser Resurfacing?
To improve the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, sun spots, and aging and sun-damaged skin, Dr. Richard D’Amico offers laser skin resurfacing treatments here in Englewood, NJ. He has options that remove dead and damaged layers of skin cells on the skin’s surface to reveal fresher and more youthful skin beneath. This method of skin rejuvenation is more comfortable than prior skin resurfacing technologies, and the laser gives Dr. D’Amico greater control over the depth of penetration of the skin’s surface for increased patient safety.
Laser skin treatments use focused beams of light energy to counteract the effects on the skin of acne, aging, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, scars, or poor nutrition. Laser resurfacing treatments are safe and efficient, requiring little downtime to provide effective results.

Laser Resurfacing Procedure
Dr. D’Amico performs laser treatments in his office with topical anesthesia. Depending on the laser treatment, and the area being treated, it can take anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes to perform. Many patients will notice significant results after one treatment. Some patients may require multiple treatment sessions to achieve their desired results. Prior to your procedure, Dr. D’Amico will determine the best treatment process for your individual needs and desires.
What is Fractionating?
Fractionating means that instead of the beam covering a full continuous segment of skin, it comes in little areas where some areas are not treated. Fractionating blocks the light in certain spots, so it hits a fraction of the area that’s exposed. Recovery is 4 to 5 days* while still achieving a high quality result. It’s not quite as effective as the full CO2 but recovery time is considerably shortened, and results compare very favorably to light-based therapies which are much less effective. This exciting new technology is literally changing the face of laser skin resurfacing. Full CO2 requires anesthesia.
