What Are the Benefits of a Mommy Makeover?
What’s the value of having your figure back after pregnancy and childbirth have created a stomach pooch, sagging breasts, and left pockets of stubborn fat that seem oblivious to exercise or dietary restraint? For some patients, a Mommy Makeover with Dr. D’Amico can even improve upon their pre-baby body. Seeing the changes made in their bodies by the localized weight gain/loss, childbirth, and breastfeeding can be depressing for a mother. A Mommy Makeover rejuvenates the specific areas affected and can really boost the way you see your figure moving forward. What Mom doesn’t deserve that?

Mommy Makeover Procedures:
Each Mommy Makeover combines procedures to match a patient’s specific needs. Women who visit us for body contouring in New Jersey typically choose a tummy tuck and liposuction, breast enhancement, or a combination of procedures.
Breast augmentation, also known as breast enhancement, is a surgical procedure used to enhance the shape or size of breasts and improve asymmetry. It is often used to restore the breasts to their natural appearance after aging, pregnancy, or massive weight loss.
If you find that your breasts are sagging due to age, genetics, childbearing, or weight loss, a breast lift may be right for you. Some women elect to combine Breast Augmentation and a Breast lift to enhance both the size and the shape of their breasts.
A tummy tuck removes excess abdominal skin that may have stretched out during pregnancy and never “snapped back.” As part of the procedure, Dr. D’Amico also repairs and tightens separated abdominal muscles to create a flatter abdomen and slimmer waist*.
Many Mommy Makeover patients choose to have liposuction to get rid of small pockets of fat in various areas of the body that tend to be resistant to diet and exercise. This simple yet effective procedure serves as the final step in creating smoother, more youthful body contours*. To meet his patients’ varying needs, Dr. D’Amico offers both traditional liposuction as well as other alternatives. Always in touch with the latest technologies and techniques, Dr. D’Amico performs HydraSolve™, which uses low-energy Tissue Liquefaction Technology™ (TLT).
If I Am Not Sure If I Am Done Having Children, Should I Still Have a Mommy Makeover?
This really isn’t a good idea. As mentioned above, pregnancy and childbirth will wipe out all of the gains made by these procedures. In fact, stressing incision scars with the localized weight gain in your abdomen and breasts can create real problems. If you’re still considering having additional children, you simply need to wait to have a Mommy Makeover.
If I Am Breastfeeding, Can I Have a Mommy Makeover with Augmentation?
To have a Mommy Makeover you need to have finished breastfeeding for at least three months.
Mommy Makeover Recovery
The recovery time for a Mommy Makeover varies greatly depending on the extent of the procedure. During your consultation, Dr. D’Amico can give you a more specific time frame for recovery, but you should plan on spending 1 to 2 weeks resting*. Setting aside time for a relaxed and stress-free recovery period will help the body heal faster and more fully.
After your surgery, our staff will give you instructions explaining how long you should avoid activities such as heavy lifting and strenuous exercise. You will also receive pain medication to assist you in the days following your procedure. Patients may need to wear support bandages to help ensure proper healing.
Is There Any Reason a Person Can’t Have the Combination of Procedures in a Mommy Makeover?
If you’re healthy enough to have surgery and don’t smoke, there really isn’t a physical reason. However, the combination of procedures does make for an involved recovery. So, if you can’t get help around the house with the children that could be a problem. Also, if you have a physical job, you will need a fair amount of time off. If that is a problem, then you may want to consider doing the procedures piecemeal. But, if possible, grouping the procedures and creating a single recovery period has many advantages.
